Health knowledge and care seeking behaviour in resource-limited settings amidst the COVID-19 pandemic: A qualitative study in Ghana

Background The emergence of a pandemic presents challenges and opportunities for healthcare, health promotion interventions, overall improvement in healthcare seeking behaviour. This study explored the impact COVID-19 on knowledge, lifestyle, behaviour among residents resource-limited setting Ghana. Methods qualitative adopted an exploratory design to collect data from 20 adult Cape Coast Metropolis using face-to-face in-depth interviews. Data collected were analysed thematically statements participants presented verbatim illustrate themes realised. Results Health knowledge has improved due COVID–19 terms access information increased understanding issues. There reductions risky health-related lifestyles (alcohol intake, sharing personal items, consumption junk foods) while improvements observed healthy such as regular physical exercise fruits vegetables. also positively impacted through consciousness check-ups. However, reduced utilization was prevalent. Conclusion positive cue action helped care although existing system constrains low economic status utilization. To improve systems, well outcomes even after wades off, associated conscious unconscious reforms should be systematically harnessed.
